The Challenge

Over time, acquisitions across the ANZ region had created fragmented operating models, inconsistent reporting structures, and varying definitions of institutional performance metrics across campuses. 

Executive teams lacked a unified view across the organization’s portfolio, making it difficult to benchmark institutional performance, standardize KPIs, and support enterprise-wide planning initiatives. Previous platform initiatives had also resulted in low stakeholder confidence and inconsistent adoption, increasing the need for a governance-first transformation approach. 

At the same time, the organization was preparing for broader modernization initiatives that required scalable cloud-native infrastructure, trusted enterprise data models, stronger governance, and a modern analytics foundation capable of supporting future AI-enabled reporting and intelligent operational insights. 

The ANZ region also needed to migrate its legacy data warehouse environment to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) while aligning with enterprise architecture, compliance, and reporting standards. 

The Solution 

YCOTEK conducted a comprehensive assessment of the organization’s enterprise architecture and designed a modern cloud-native analytics platform built on Google Cloud Platform with Microsoft Power BI as the enterprise reporting layer.

The transformation focused on creating a governed, scalable, and AI-ready data ecosystem capable of supporting enterprise-wide analytics, self-service reporting, and future intelligent automation initiatives.

YCOTEK designed scalable enterprise data models that standardized KPI structures, reporting definitions, and business logic across institutions, establishing a trusted foundation for enterprise analytics.

To strengthen reliability and scalability, the team expanded the enterprise data warehouse by integrating additional source systems and implementing a standardized ETL framework that improved data quality, governance, and reporting consistency across enterprise pipelines.

YCOTEK also developed a semantic reporting layer that enabled business users to access trusted self-service analytics while reducing dependency on technical reporting teams.

Built using technologies including Google BigQuery, Apache Airflow, Fivetran, Bigeye, and Power BI, the platform established the interoperability, governance, and scalability required to support future AI and advanced analytics initiatives across the organization.

The Impact 

The transformation significantly improved enterprise data trust, reporting consistency, and analytics scalability across the organization’s education portfolio. 

By modernizing the reporting environment on GCP, YCOTEK established a cloud-native analytics foundation capable of supporting future AI-enabled reporting, predictive analytics, and intelligent operational decision-making initiatives. 

The implementation of standardized semantic models and governed KPI frameworks improved executive confidence in reporting while enabling broader adoption of self-service analytics across business teams. 

The engagement delivered more than 50 dashboards and enterprise reports covering Enrolment Funnel, Academic, and TEQSA metrics, while automating regulatory reporting processes and reducing compliance risk. 

In parallel, table optimization initiatives delivered projected annual infrastructure savings of approximately USD 50,000. 

Through this engagement, YCOTEK helped transform fragmented institutional reporting into a unified, AI-ready enterprise analytics platform.
